Coco set to open doors in September.

(CHAPEL HILL, N.C.) Aug xxx --- Grubb Properties announced today that Coco Bean, winner of multiple Best of Chapel Hill awards, will relocate to The Gwendolyn in the historic Glen Lennox community. The Gwendolyn location is scheduled to open in September and will feature an expanded menu, including brunch on the weekends, and a new look with an open floor plan with an attractive aesthetic.

The new enterprise will be known as Coco and will feature the same exceptional coffee, specialty drinks and vegan baked goods as the original Coco Bean. Coco also will transition into a full bar in the evening that will include non-alcoholic drink options in addition to wine, beer, and craft cocktails.

“We’re beyond excited about relocating and expanding operations to the Gwendolyn building. The partnership with Grubb Properties fits our vision both professionally and personally,” said Tamara Lackey, owner of Coco Bean. “We’re looking forward to providing a first-of-its-kind atmosphere and space for the Glen Lennox and Chapel Hill community to connect and enjoy.”

In keeping with Lackey’s commitment to sustainability, Coco will be environmentally-friendly. The menu will be meat-free and contain no animal products. She also expects to use Coco’s space to welcome live music, movie nights, and pet adoption events, and to make it available for event rental.

“It’s great to welcome Tamara Lackey and her excellent coffee shop to The Gwendolyn,” said Joe Dye, Executive Vice President of Grubb Properties. “Tamara’s passion for the Town of Chapel Hill is a huge benefit to the community, and her restaurant’s practices and principles fall in line with our commitment to sustainability. This addition is one-of-a-kind for the area and makes Tamara the perfect partner for us to serve the Glen Lennox community.”

The Gwendolyn is a four-story 109,000-square-foot, Class A office building with several modern office design plans in the heart of Glen Lennox. For more information on leasing options, contact RDULEASIG@AM.JLL.COM.
